Located in a converted barn just 1/4 mile from the start/finish, the Land's End Hostel and B&B is ideal for the end-to-ender.

The property has been converted to a very high standard and the first thing to strike you as you enter the building itself is the half room wall sized mural depicting the famous Land's End signpost.  If you want to save a 1/4 mile from your trip you could have your photo taken right here!

There is a shared kitchen and a number of bath/shower rooms which were spotlessly clean and well maintained.  Plenty of hot water.  The bedrooms were equally clean, neat and tidy and the bed was comfortable providing a good night's sleep, despite the nervous prospect of setting off on a 950 mile cycle early the next morning.  It was very quiet, although there was only one other guest staying on the night I was there at the end of September, pretty much on the far edge of the season for End to Ending.

The Breakfast in a Basket idea is inspired!  It is ideal for cyclists, providing a heavy dose of slow release calories that will see you through the first couple of hours of cycling.  And being a self catering type of option you can get up and eat it at whatever time you like.  However, to avoid disturbing other guests who don't want to be up at the crack of dawn, I would recommend a hand torch to find your way to the kitchen without switching on the hallway lights.  Your 'be seen' light from your bike would be fine.

Bikes have their own shelter outside, behind a locked gate, with very solid, purpose built rails to which they can be locked.  The only niggle from a road cyclist point of view is that the driveway is gravelled, which is not great for thin wheels.  But you can always walk along the grass.

The hosts, Susie and David, were very welcoming and helpful, running through the accommodation and breakfast routine quickly and efficiently.  They were very knowledgeable about the area and I am sure would have been able to provide me with a list of interesting local things to do if I hadn't been planning on cycling away from the area as early as I could the next day!
