If you are planning on cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats you are probably looking for some assistance. Whether riding this classic UK tour has always been a dream or it's a new ambition you may need help with finding out about:
‘...I was finding the lack of information in a single source frustrating and then found this! Completely inspired me, made me feel like this is something I can achieve and gave me a laugh along the way. Excellent read for potential End to Enders!...’ - amazon.co.uk
The problems start when you come to actually start thinking in detail about planning an end to end cycle. It suddenly looks a whole lot more complicated. Which is probably why you are here, looking for some advice.
This site covers everything you need to know to plan and train for your epic cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) or John O'Groats to Lands End (JOGLE).
Like you, I scoured the internet looking for sites or guides that would tell me what I needed to know to plan my route from John O'Groats to Lands End train for the ride. I found an enormous quantity of sites and guides but most of them, whilst interesting, were of little help. I bought Lands End to John O' Groats route books that looked good but when I got into the detail I realised the proposed end to end route was not what I wanted.
Eventually I found everything I needed, or learnt the hard way, but it took a long time. I just wished that someone had put everything in one place. But they hadn't, so I decided to do it myself and produced this website and the book: Lands End to John O'Groats Self Help Cycle Guide.
It's a great tool to get your dream tour under way. But don't take my word for it, the whole book is set out on this site. To view pages just click on the links at the bottom of the page or in the left hand menu.
Below are some comments from reviews posted on Amazon.co.uk:
The book is available in various electronic versions as instant download from this site or you can follow the links to download versions through Amazon Kindle, iBooks, Kobo etc.
After being asked by a number of visitors to the site the book is now also available as a paperback from Amazon.
You can download an electronic version of the website in book format in .mobi (Kindle) .epub (most other ereaders and apps) or pdf format (PC and devices with pdf readers) direct from this site for a small donation of £2.99 or £5 towards the upkeep of the free website. Simply select your desired payment from the drop down list and then click on the buy it now button. Once payment is made choose the paypal option to 'Return to Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle Route' which will direct you to the download page. You can then select the type of file you need from the list (you can download all three formats for the one payment if you like).

In 2013 (and 2014!) I rode End to End again, this time in the more traditional direction from Land's End upward. On that occasion I was following a route spat out by Google Maps when they first started beta testing mapping for cycles. The plan was to follow the route no matter what to see how good a job Google did. This time I took lots of notes and pictures. I have written up the whole experience as a book that is available for download direct from this site as a pdf, .mobi or .epub file. This gives a much greater insight into what you might expect to experience along the route. You can access a free sample here (I will then send you a link, which might appear in your Junk folder) or a full copy for a small donation of £2.99 or £5 towards the upkeep of the website by clicking on the paypal buy button below. Once you have paid choose the paypal option to 'Return to Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle Route' which will direct you to the download page. Alternatively you can purchase a paperback or Kindle from Amazon by clicking here and then the relevant links.
